Wind Direction Sensor

The WD series Wind Direction Sensors are sensitive wind direction indicators that give a variable pulse rate output and a visual indication of wind direction. The vane, arm and pointer turn the main spindle, which is support by two low friction stainless steel bearings. The use of Hall effect sensing elements allows a full 0 to 359 degree range, with much greater accuracy, sensitivity & reliability.

Features

  • Visual indication of wind direction
  • Full 0 - 359 degree range
  • Hall Effect sensing for the ultimate accuracy, resolution & reliability
  • Special machining to prevent entry of wind-borne dust or moisture
  • Long operating life
  • Low friction shielded bearings
  • Good dynamic characteristics

Applications

  • Monitoring Wind Direction for EPA licences
  • Satisfying Australian Standards
  • Meteorology
  • Wind Profiling
  • Crop Studies
  • Ecology
  • Pollution Control

The WD45 wind direction sensors are sensitive wind direction indicators which give a variable pulse rate output and a visual indication of wind direction. The aluminium wind vane is attached to an aluminium arm and adjustable brass pointer. The WD45 uses Hall Effect sensing to provide very accurate wind direction readings.  Moreover, as there is no potentiometer, there is no 'gap' in the readings at north, with a full 0 to 359 degree range.  Accuracy and reliability are the key to this world class sensor.

The vane, arm and pointer turn the main spindle, which is supported by low friction shielded bearings.

A four groove labyrinth machined into the spindle housing prevents the entrance of wind-borne dust or moisture into the upper bearing.

Use Environdata's IS37 and WS45 Wind Speed sensor in conjunction with the WD45 for a complete wind monitoring package suitable to meet EPA requirements in all states and territories of Australia (Including AM-1, AM-3, AM-4 in NSW).

This system will meet the Australian Standards and when used as part of an Environdata Weather Station (by connecting to a Weather Maestro or WeatherMate 3000 data logger) can provide you with very accurate tracking of the wind, including a sigma theta calculation from the data logger, AirData Software for calculating the net movement of the air, and WindRose for displaying a graphical summary of wind distribution over time.
